This is without a doubt one of my favourite pizza restaurants in London. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been here. When the first one opened in Neal’s Yard (Covent Garden) I dined here four times in three weeks – each time using it as an excuse to introduce new friends to the 20 inch pizzas. Word spread quickly and it became nearly impossible to get a table here at peak times. The demand for Homeslice’s famous pizzas and the teams hard work allowed it grow from a successful food stall to having three restaurants in prime central London locations. Happy days!

The Homeslice concept is great. Grab a slice (£4 each) or go all out and try a 20inch pizza (£20) which is enough for two or three people to share. There are lots of imaginative topping combinations to choose from. They are very different from your classic Italian pizzas but I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised! The best part is the 20 inch pizzas can be half and half so there’s no excuse to not try something new.

So what makes Homeslice so great? For me, it’s the simple yet delicious magherita. I’ve tried a variety of the vegetarian pizzas here, all of which are tasty and fun to try, but the magherita is always my go to. It’s the thin crust, flavoursome rich tomato sauce and basil combo that does it for me.

Both options are Homeslice veterans and appear to be here to stay (I hope so anyway) but they do regularly change their chalkboard menu, keeping things innovative and interesting.

Half magherita, half mushroom, ricotta, pumpkin seeds and chilli

Magherita –my number 1.

Mushroom, ricotta, pumpkin seed and chilli- The mushrooms and soft ricotta complimented each other well and the pumpkin seeds provided a crunchy texture. A flavoursome pizza which I’m glad I tried but it did get a bit overpowering after a couple of slices.

Well’s Street, Fritzovia

I visited this branch recently and was very impressed by how much bigger it is compared to the Covent Garden restaurant. Homeslice has stayed true to their theme and the Fritzovia branch has the exact same buzz with the large wood fire oven and friendly staff. It’s just a lot bigger. There is also a basement cocktail bar here making the wait for a table much less painful. It is conveniently located around the corner from Oxford Street so next time you need a shopping break to refuel, Homeslice is the place!

Half magherita, half pumpkin, broccoli, pecorino and crispy onions

Pumpkin, broccoli, pecorino, crispy onions – I was a bit reluctant to try this but it was recommended by our waitress as one of her favourite veggie options. This was really good and the toppings worked surprisingly well together. However, I still prefer a tomato based pizza and would have liked a drizzle of the rich tomato sauce on it because the pumpkin sauce can taste a bit dry.

The staff at Homeslice are always chatty, attentive and helpful. There is a chalkboard menu and no cutlery. Orders are taken using iPads fitting with their cool and simple concept. Be ready for paper plates and getting through lots of napkins because it can be a messy meal, but it’s definitely worth it.

A great meal can be had here if you choose your pizza carefully. I’d recommend playing it safe for half the pizza to avoid disappointment if some of the topping combinations are just a bit too out there.

Sadly there are no desserts to end with, but the pizza more than makes up for it!

    1. Hi, yes if the pizza is categorised as vegetarian (have a V sign), the cheese is veggie friendly 🙂
